What if my child can't keep the headphones on?
Many times parents worry about whether or not their child will be able to keep the headphones on for the duration of the therapy.
It is a fact, some children due to sensory issues, adhd, or other, may struggle over the first few days of the therapy to keep the headphones on. All I say is, as the parent, please sit with your child and be firm but kind in helping them to find a way to keep the headphones on. After a few days of the therapy most children - even those with sensory processing issues - settle down and accept the headphones just fine.
One of the reasons for this is that the frequency of sound used in the Tomatis Method of therapy is influencing their nervous system in a positive way. One of the lovely outcomes of this Tomatis therapy that we regularly see is improvement in, and reduction of, sensory issues in the kids that undergo the therapy.
So on the one-hand kids often find that they like the way the therapy makes them feel in their body when they have the headphones on. On the other-hand the therapy is taking care of the problem by helping to reduce the sensory issues that were there in the first place.
